STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN ACCEPTS 4TH BMI AWARD FOR
SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR
“YOURS” AND “CINDERELLA” HONORED FOR SONGS OF THE YEAR
"BEAUTY WILL RISE" GOES TO RADIO ON MAY 21

Nashville, April 23, 2010 – Steven Curtis Chapman was honored at this week’s Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Awards as he took home his 4th award for Songwriter of the Year along with two more awards for Song of the Year for his powerful hits “Cinderella” and “Yours,” off of his 16th studio record This Moment. The annual BMI Christian Music Awards were held at their Music Row office in Nashville.
BMI saluted the writers and publishers of the past year’s most-performed songs on Christian radio and television. By contributing two songs each to the most-performed list, Chapman, TobyMac, producer/songwriter Chris Stevens and singer/songwriter Jason Walker shared the Songwriter of the Year title.
While Chapman was unable to attend the ceremony, standing in for their father were Chapman’s sons, Caleb and Will Franklin. The boys and their emerging band, Caleb, gave a touching performance of their father’s ballad “Cinderella,” inspired by their sisters Emily, Stevey Joy and Maria Sue.
In addition to his recent honors, the award-winning artist will be releasing the title track as his second single from his latest album Beauty Will Rise. The song goes for adds to radio stations on May 21.
