Fingerprint Initiative Builds Home For Gaines Family

House is Keystone of Habitat for Humanity's "Hope Village" Community

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Nov. 17, 2005-Ginny Owens' Fingerprint Initiative broke ground on a Habitat house for the Gaines family in Covington, La. Funded entirely by Fingerprint, the Gaines family home is the fifth in "Hope Village," a community designed to provide hope and housing for low-income families throughout eastern Louisiana.

In January, Owens selected Patsy Gaines, her husband Clarence, and their three children to be the recipients of Fingerprint's Habitat home in "Hope Village." Both parents are disabled, and the family lives in an apartment that is not handicapped accessible, making it difficult for them to meet even their basic needs. The new four-bedroom home will be built to accommodate the Gaines' daily routine, allowing sufficient room for wheelchair maneuverability.

"Fingerprint Initiative has been working toward this build all year," comments Owens. "I particularly sympathize with the Gaines' situation and am so grateful for the opportunity to help this family get a new house and a new lease on life!"

The "Hope Village" neighborhood will comprise 15 new homes built for families in need. Other famous volunteers, such as President George W. Bush, actor Alec Baldwin, motivational speaker Tony Robbins, songwriter Tim Blixseth and singer Eric Benet, have also provided labor for the new construction in "Hope Village." Ginny will continue work on the Gaines house until its dedication in early January.

The brainchild of award-winning singer/songwriter Ginny Owens, Fingerprint Initiative exists to aid humanitarian programs that seek to serve others in a godly manner. It partners with concert-goers and fans in providing financial as well as physical assistance to specific non-profit organizations, communities, or individuals whose needs directly reflect its annual theme. Ginny Owens won her first Dove Award in 2000 for New Artist of the Year, reflecting the success of her debut album, Without Condition. Her immediate acceptance among Christian and mainstream audiences prompted radio success as well as invitations to appear at Lilith Fair (1999), the Sundance Film Festival (2000) and on National Public Radio. Songs written and performed by Owens have appeared on popular television shows such as "Felicity," "Charmed," "Roswell" and "Get Real." Blind since the age of two, Owens originally wanted to teach, earning a Music Education degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Described by Billboard as "a songwriter of incredible depth," Owens recently released her fourth studio CD, Long Way Home, on Oct. 11. She was featured this fall on the "What I Was Made For Tour," headlined by Fervent Records artist Big Daddy Weave, and is currently rehearsing for the "Gloria: A Christmas Celebration Tour," which kicks off with labelmates Watermark and Shaun Groves late November.
