(TORONTO, Ontario) -- One Free World International has announced a fact finding mission to Iraq from July 19-24, 2011. Led by One Free World International founder, Rev. Majed El Shafie, the delegation will include Mr. John Weston, Member of the Canadian Parliament and Senator Don Meredith, Senate of Canada, both of whom will be observing. This will be the first Canadian delegation to Iraq since the start of the war.
The delegation will be meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister, Vice President, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministers of Human Rights and Women’s Rights and Speaker of the Parliament. El Shafie will be confronting the Iraqi government regarding the issues of human rights, women’s rights and minority rights.
According to El Shafie, this mission is an urgent response to an issue that deserves critical global attention. “We must stop the violation of human rights and the rights of the minorities. The red blood of the innocent is more important than the black oil. We are going to Iraq to speak for those that can not."
In addition to official government meetings, the delegation will be meeting with various religious leaders, and visiting churches that were attacked as well as meeting directly with some of the victims.
