David Phelps Announces 4th Annual Christmas Tour
Tour follows release of best-selling, critically acclaimed project, Life Is A Church
(Nashville, Tenn.) November 9, 2005 -Award-winning male vocalist David Phelps announces the itinerary for his fourth-annual Christmas tour. The 12-city tour will also feature INO Records' Anthony Evans along with comedian Darren Streblow and female vocalist Erin O'Donnell in select markets. The tour launches on the heels of the release of Life Is A Church, Phelps' best-selling and critically acclaimed solo project which saw a Top 5 sales debut in its first week of release.
This years' Christmas tour begins on December 1 in Columbia, Tenn. and wraps up on December 19 in Springfield, Mo. The tour has grown to become one of the Christmas season's most highly anticipated concerts and once again promises to be an interactive celebration of the season.
"I love Christmas," says Phelps. "The decorations, the songs, the food. It's always so cool to see everybody bundled up making their way into the concert hall each night of the tour. These are always my favorite concerts, and we have a great evening planned for this year's tour."
Phelps' Life Is A Church released on September 27 with a debut in the Top 5 on SoundScan's Christian Retail sales chart. Additionally, the project entered Billboard's prestigious "Heatseekers" chart at #9. The project has already received critical praise in addition to its commercial success.
The release of Life Is A Church is supported by a promotional campaign featuring national media appearances including Janet Parshall's America radio broadcast, USA Radio Network and a special performance at Focus On The Family. Additional appearances are currently scheduled throughout the fall including a performance on "At Home Live" and Robert Schuller's "Hour of Power," along with print exposure in a variety of publications including CCM and Billboard. Additionally the first inspirational format radio single from the project is currently #2 on the Christian Radio Weekly (CRW) Inspo chart.
As an acclaimed solo artist and while a member of the renowned multi-Platinum selling, GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, Phelps has performed before millions including appearances at Billy Graham Mission crusades and before President Bush at the White House. He first appeared in the Christian music spotlight as the first-place winner of the Gospel Music Association's 1988 Music Seminar in the Rockies vocal competition. Phelps was then appointed Artist in Residence for First Baptist Church of Hurst, TX and later joined the Gaither Vocal Band in 1997, where he would be featured on over 30 projects with the Grammy and Dove Award winning group. The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has additionally nominated him twice for "Male Vocalist of the Year."
