(Nashville, Tenn.) July 25, 2008–Word Records’ GRAMMY® and Dove Award-winning artist, David Phelps, is slated to appear in a special re-run performance of the ABC Television Network’s hit show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Sunday, July 27, 2008, 8 p.m. EST.

Bringing a strong message of hope, Phelps will deliver a heart warming benefit concert to the cast, crew and community of Colorado Springs, Co., who have joined forces to build a new home for one special family and their brave nine year old daughter, born with a rare and incurable disorder. Phelps’ performance will be broadcast to a weekly audience that exceeds 14 million viewers.

“When the family contacted me at a concert on tour this last summer, I was immediately captivated by their story. Their faith filled me with hope and I prayed that I would have a chance to help in whatever way I could. I'm always honored when my music touches someone so you can imagine why we were thrilled when we got the call that the family had been chosen and had requested that I was a part of it. My prayer is that with the help rising from the community, the EM staff, and supporters around the world the family can find a place of rest and peace in their new home."

This special primetime television performance will run in preparation of Phelps upcoming August 26, 2008 release, The Voice. With several compelling new songs, The Voice showcases Phelps amazing tenor voice as he interprets some of pop music’s most beloved classics, breathing new life into such favorites as “Unchained Melody” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” with that inimitable voice. He also serves up an impressive rendition of opera legend Luciano Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” and a soul-stirring version of the hymn “Angel Band.”

As an acclaimed solo artist and a former member of the renowned Gaither Vocal Band, Phelps has impressed audiences internationally at over 100 performances a year including appearances at Billy Graham Mission crusades and before President George W. Bush at the White House. A three-time Gospel Music Association “Male Vocalist of the Year” nominee, Phelps joined the Gaither Vocal Band in 1997, where he would be featured on over 30 projects with the multi-Platinum group and was the recipient of a GRAMMY® and Dove Award, quickly becoming recognized as one of the preeminent voices in Christian music, and continues to wow crowds everywhere with his powerhouse vocals.
