Curt Collins – “Don’t Look Back Now”
For the first review for WSTW, we take a look at one of the fresh new faces in Christian Country music, Curt Collins. From the opening guitar strains of “Work in Progress” to the gospel-tinged melody of “He Still Speaks,” this album shows tons of potential. Curt has a resounding baritone that is equal parts Vince Gill and Bill Gaither. The only time it suffers is when he tries to sing too high, as he did on “Pray for the World.” All in all, this is a solid debut project, and I look forward to hearing more from Curt as his songwriting improves.
Grade: B
Standout Tracks: “Backyard Hero (the lead single),” “Same Train (a country-rocker),” and “He Still Speaks (a gospel song that just moves you)
