Casting Crowns - "Lifesongs" Review
Picture this scene. It's early 2003. A Christian artist manager meets 7 musicians. A youth leader from Florida and his worship band. Just got signed to a new record label. Looking for management. He says, "Oh, this will never work. Too many people in the band."
This band, of course, turned out to be the biggest thing in Christian music that year. That manager, who shall remain nameless, kicks himself, and the band, as well as their youth pastor-turned- songwriter-slash-lead singer, win multiple Dove Awards. (Don't worry, Darren, your secret is safe with me.)
Fast forward to 2005. That little band that could has released a follow up album that, in many ways, outshines the first disc. While there is no identifiable bona fide hit, a' la "We are the Body," this is more solid from top to bottom. It starts out with the title track (which is the first single) and continues for another ten tracks . Highlights include the rollicking thunder behind "Praise You in the Storm," the orchastra providing the emotion to "Love Them Like jesus" and a sure-fire worship hit in "Father, Spirit, Jesus." Bottom line, this is a fantastic album and one that you should own if you don't already. Well, what are you waiting for? Go....
