Ayiesha Woods Debuts On Gotee This June!
(Nashville, Tenn.) April 19th, 2006 - Singer-songwriter Ayiesha Woods will unveil her debut album Introducing Ayiesha Woods (Gotee Records) on June 6th. The album, with production from Chris Stevens (Toby Mac, Shawn McDonald, Sanctus Real), Otto Price (Barlow Girl, GRITS), Ric Robbins (GRITS, Out of Eden), and David Mullen (Nicole Mullen), is already making waves.
This week, the debut single "Happy" is the most added song at Christian AC Radio. "Happy", which is also impacting at Christian CHR, is currently receiving spins in over 25 markets nationally including the Air 1 Network (currently in 250 markets).
In support of her debut effort, Woods will set out on multiple promotional events this summer. In May, she'll go on a nationwide promotional tour visiting radio and retail and performing "brown bag" shows along the way. In addition, on June 3rd Woods will open for Toby Mac in Chicago, and on July 15th she'll be performing on mainstage at the KSBJ Anniversary Concert in Houston. Other tour plans for Woods are currently underway.
It was the nimble lyrical delivery on her independent solo release that found its way onto Jamaican Radio Airwaves where Gotee Executive, Toby McKeehan first heard Woods' song "Crazy". After a few inquiries to the Program Director of a radio station in Jamaica, Toby obtained contact information for Ayiesha and called her. Woods was initially caught off guard by the prospect, "I wasn't home when he first called. I was in disbelief," said Woods. "I couldn't believe that he was calling me."
Woods, who has been musically inclined since childhood, has already seen her share of accolades. In 2004, she became the first female to walk away with the "Producer of the Year" award from the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards, that year she also received the Marlin Awards' "New Artist of the Year" and "Contemporary Vocal Performance of the Year (Female)".
